CCAP’s Employment, Training, and Education Programs assist the youth of Rhode Island ages 14 – 24 through free education, training programs, work readiness workshops, and job placement assistance. We provide a full range of services to youth enrolled in-school and out-of-school. All enrollees are connected with a case manager to assist them in their education or employment goals throughout the program. Cash incentives are given to those who qualify.

Summer Employment Applications Are Now Open!
- Participants must be between 14-24 years old on July 10, 2023.
- All participants must be available for ALL WEEKS OF THE PROGRAM, July 10-August 18.
Programs:
Rhody Greeners (Providence Residents Only) Partnering with the Coalition Center for Environmental Sustainability (CC4ES), ages 14-18 will be introduced as mentors for grades kindergarten – 12th grade. The mission of Rhody Greeners is to maintain and create gardens in the Providence schools to educate students on urban gardening and sustainability, promoting environmental, social, and economic justice and equity.
PVD: Youth Advocates for Change (Providence Residents Only) This service-based learning program for ages 14-18 will focus on advocacy and social justice issues in RI, mentoring the community about these issues, and advocating for change. Focus topics will include leadership development, professionalism, market activism, exploring social justice issues, the role of an advocate/activist, community outreach, and developing a policy amendment and/or creating an individualized community service goal. Youth will learn through lectures and hands on learning experiences. At the end of the program, youth will receive a certificate of completion and feedback on their own policy amendment/community service goal.
Summer Welding Program (Cranston Area Career and Technical Center)
Youth will be introduced several key facets of the welding trade, with an emphasis on personal protective equipment use and personal safety. Metal preparation, plasma cutting, stick (SMAW) and mig (GMAW) welding will be the main points of emphasis. Students will learn trade-specific terminology, basic welding techniques and equipment use as they apply to the trade. Youth will be introduced to several key facets of the welding trade, with an emphasis on personal protective equipment use and personal safety. Students will learn trade-specific terminology, basic welding techniques and equipment use as they apply to the trade.
Graphic Communications Program (Virtual)
Students explore the fundamentals of graphic design & illustration through project-based-learning. Through projects, students will be introduced to the Elements & Principles of Design & Layout, Typography, Color Theory, Conceptualizing, and a digital application used to create comprehensive design layouts. Upon completion, students will have a portfolio of work including a personal brand, digital illustration, and poster art showcasing what they have learned.
Camp XL (Bain Middle School, Cranston)
Students will work as Youth Camp Counselors at Bain Middle School in Cranston with a focus on assisting STEM groups as they work on various projects and experiments.
Summer Paid Internships with Employer Partner (All Areas)
Youth can reach out to a small business and complete the 100-hour summer program with an employer of their choice. CCAP Staff will confirm with the business that they can support the youth and have work for them to complete through the duration of the program.
